  • Chester A. Arthur – Black Caesar

“The treasure cache at Jonathan Swift’s homestead in Kentucky has been ransacked by a ghost.  Not merely any ghost though, it was the spirit of the notorious pirate, Black Caesar. Black Caesar was one of Blackbeard’s top lieutenants in the early 1700’s.  According to legend, he was an African war chief who escaped a slave ship.  He then murdered and pillaged his way to become one of the most feared pirates in the Caribbean. He was a massive man in life and the men guarding the treasure say that he has not lost his intimidating presence.  He managed to kill two guards.  What would make him return for Blackbeard’s gold?  Was it something he was looking for in life before he was hanged alongside Blackbeard?

  • Chester A. Arthur – Crystal Skull

“Crystal skulls created by the Aztecs, or an older civilization, are being exported from Mexico.  Several are fake but there are currently three that stand out.  One was purchased by the British Museum from Tiffany’s in New York City.  A private collector acquired one in Paris, France. The Smithsonian is in the process of obtaining a third.  These remind me of the Mayan art of the seven symbols and seven skulls.  They could be important.

  • Chester A. Arthur – Jacko the Ape Boy

“A train crew managed to capture a strange creature in British Columbia, Canada.  They named it Jacko the Ape-Boy.  They claimed it was a gorilla from the Canadian wilds, and a previously unknown species.  He was 4 feet 7 inches tall and weighed 127 pounds.  On the trip to Yale, the crew became fond of the creature and was taken by its intelligence.  They originally planned on showing the creature at an exhibit, but decided against it over worries about the gentle creatures health and well-being.  They released Jacko back into the wild and claimed that the young creature died in transit.

  • Chester A. Arthur – President’s Curse

“I regret to write that James A. Garfield has been assassinated.  Maybe there is some truth to this twenty-year curse.  Is a nefarious group using this supposed curse to cover their tracks in superstition?  Or is there a mysterious Native American curse plaguing the Presidents.  I cannot see a pattern.  Several American Presidents have gone to war with the natives, but they do not all die mysteriously.  If the treasury is behind it, then why not kill Andrew Jackson or Rutherford B. Hayes who both hampered national banking.  Even if powerful plantation owners were behind it, that would not explain Harrison.  Zachary Tyler does not even fit into the twenty-year window.  Maybe this is all a coincidence.  I guess we will have to wait and see in the year 1900.

  • James A. Garfield – Lincoln Ghost

“A photographer captured the ghost of President Abraham Lincoln with his widowed wife Mary in 1870.  Did he have unfinished business that would keep him from entering Heaven?  Am I to share the same fate wandering this Earth with no direction or purpose?

  • James A. Garfield – Cursed

“What leader that hopes to be worth their salt has not studied the greatest leaders of our past?  Well, I have read about Abraham Lincoln and now fear for my life.  It was said that he prophesied his own death through his dreams.  Nightmares is more what I would call them, for now I am afflicted with the same visions.  Mine are not as clear as Lincoln’s.  They are never the same and never consistent.  Except in one factor.  My death.  My assassination.  Why did I ever take on this role to become the President of the United States?  I called upon a tarot reader to verify my feelings and instantly the verdict was the same.  The Death card.  I am in grave danger.  I am afraid at every event that I attend.  I cannot help but see my murderous end around every corner.  I do not wish to die but I also fear leaving the office.  I will never recover from such an act of cowardice.  What good is dying to preserve a reputation though?  Please God, spare me from this terrible end.  I promise to do better in everything I do.

  • Steady As She Goes

So things have been running pretty smoothly. No hackers ever since I insulted Pandora’s Lament, whoever they were. I must have successfully blocked them or something. Maybe things are going a little too smoothly, you know what I mean. I guess I shouldn’t complain or anything. I just thought more authorities would be interested in me spilling America’s greatest secrets. I guess that could be because the secrets I have posted so far are pretty old and not really Earth shattering. As I start getting into the 20th Century, things could change. I don’t know, we will see.

  • Rutherford B. Hayes – Emperor Norton I

“Norton I, Emperor of the United States of America and Protector of Mexico has died today.  He was much beloved although a bit eccentric.  He spent most of his days inspected the streets of San Francisco and the officers that patrolled them.  He challenged Napoleon III’s invasion of Mexico by proclaiming himself Protector of Mexico in 1861.  He confronted anti-Chinese rioters and repeated the Lord’s prayer until the crowds dispersed.   He printed his own currency which was often honored by locals.  He even fired Congress at one time for acts of corruption, and Abraham Lincoln for failing to prevent war.  Over 10,000 people paid tribute to him as his funeral.  The thing is, there is nothing in the Constitution preventing this man from actually becoming Emperor.  If the people had decided to listen to the man, he very well could have ruled the United States.  Based on his deeds, his rule may have been a benevolent one had it come to fruition.  However, the leaders of the United States decided to keep this secret until his passing.  Congress quietly amended the Constitution to prevent further Emperors in the future.  Norton I will be the first and last Emperor in the United States of America.  Rest in peace.
