So far I haven’t had any more issues from anybody. No hackers, stalkers, or mysterious secret societies to bother me this holiday. I’ve been working on my puzzle skills and thought I would just make a fun one for anybody out there. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I got a notification that all of my posts were updated. I didn’t do anything and I don’t really see anything different. This is getting a little crazy. Is someone seriously stalking me or something? How can I even tell if someone else has my password. I guess it’s time to update my security. I keep seeing advertisements for VPNs. I should look into it but I have no idea what I’m doing. I mean, look at this website. It took me so long to figure out how to add the title page to the front of the website.
Actually I’m having a really hard time with the website. If anybody knows somebody that would be cool. I’m not sure how much that would cost. I guess the website is okay as is. If it wasn’t for the categories though, I wouldn’t be able to follow the posts chronologically. I will add that to list of things to do. Learn ciphers. Learn website stuff. Get it, got it, good.

Okay, I’m finally learning how to do some of these codes. I bought a book and I started practicing and some easy stuff. First of all, I see that there is a difference between a code and a cipher. I thought they were the same. A code is when a word is substituted for another word, a number, or anything else. A cipher is when a letter is substituted by something. Or at least I think that’s it. So Washington’s Culper Code book is literally a book full of the numbers that are used as code for a word. I started working on that one but it’s a little tedious.
Ciphers are a little harder to learn. Caesar cipher’s seem to be the easiest. The entire alphabet is just shifted by a number. So if the shift was 10, A would become J, B would become K, and so on. I don’t see anything that easy so far. There is also Atbash, where the first and last letters of the alphabet are mirrored. So A would be Z, B would be Y. Let me try one.

“I am deeply embarrassed to lose our nation’s capital to the British so easily. Fortunately, my wife Dolley was quick-witted enough to save the portrait of George Washington before the British burned down the Executive Mansion. We discovered this cipher on the back of the portrait and have yet to determine its meaning. I only recognize the symbol for the Freemasons of which I know George Washington was a high ranking member. What secrets could have been so important that it was kept on the back of this portrait? I must determine its meaning.
